Gti Project
Volkswagen are using the age old Scalextric racing tracks that we all knew and loved as children to help raise their profile for the launch of their new modle Golf Gti, by way of a “new” game on a virtual Scalextric track availabe at www.gtiproject.combudding drivers can pit their wits against the machine [after watching a rather tedious video] driving a 1:43 scale Golf Gti round the virtual track, surrounded by vitrual buildings and scenery a kin to any new style driving game ? the best times will appaer on the leader board to be entered into a draw to win the lease for 3 monthS of a new Golf GTI.
The newest versions of the Golf Gti comes equipped with 2.0 TSI engines producing 210PS and 280 Nm of torque attaining figures in the region of 0-62mph in 6.9secs and an estimated top speed of 149mph are to be expected.

The new model Golf Deisel is rather a far cry from Gold Deisels of old bring this modle well into line with it’s rather cooler Gti brothers the up and coming 2010 modles start at around £22k [3dr 6speed manual]
Enginewise under the hood resides a 2.o Tdi producing 170PS and 258lb per ft of torque, enabling a very respectable 0-62 mph in around 8.1 secconds and an expected top speed respectably around 138mph, 6 sp models can boast a combined fuel economy of 53mpg.
The GTD will be blessed with the GTI front bumper, honeycomb grill inserts, body coloured rear bumper, and unique 17” “Seattle Black” alloys, whilst inside the cabin ahs not been left out with a flat bottomed steering wheel, leather gearshift and “Tartan” cloth interiors making for a stylish set up inline with it’s pertol driven syblings
Available in the UK from late June
New Mini Car called "UP"
Earlier Volkswagen announced that it was going to build it’s all new “minicar” lineup in Slovakia from 2011, the vehicles would be the fully operational version of the “UP” concept shown in 2007 at both the Frankfurt and Toykyo shows, definitely destined for the US and other European markets but probably not the UK, however still worth a mention due to their cuteness !!
