T4 Motor home
Their has been almost as many manufacturers taking on the VW T4 chassis as there have been different connotations of the chassis in the first place, many of the largest names in motor home manufacture have all lent their design prowess to designing their own very separate versions both in the short wheel base and long wheel base models as well as in high top and medium high top, which ahs formed a vast array of differing vehicles to choose from, dependant solely on your budget, and useage, with long term users usually opting for the likes of the Navigator below, with all round daily driver/occasional campers more often than not opting for probably an Autosleeper, a Westy or possibly a Cali coach possibly. There was also a few based on T4 Pick Ups or Dokas but so far we have been unable to source any info [if you own one please get in touch and tell us all about it].
An amazing choice all based upon one chassis all serving the same purpose yet so very many designs and interpretations to choose from, often leaving the buyer bewildered, all without exception holding really good residual values, making that choice ever more important to get right first time around..
Amongst some of the best have been Autotrail, Compass, Autosleeper, Westfalia, and the more unusual models from Eriba, and of course Dehler, all earning their place in the T4 Transporter motor home hall of fame as it were, some of our won members here at T4 - T5 Club Uk own and regularily drive some of the models listed here, all of which have duly earned their place in the line up of quailty conversions based upon the VW T4 Transporter chassis.

Ranging in sizes from pure luxury 2 berth models to 6 berth tourers all have been produced at some time or another throughout the 13 year life span of the T4, with some of the manufacturers carrying on production with the newer T5 models which we shall cover later in out T5 motor home section.

The Eriba model based on a bare double cab pick up chassis, making ingenious use of the rear of the truck, by mounting to all intents and purposes is a Eriba Puch caravan directly onto the bare chassis legs, whether this model was produced by Eriba or whether it was in actual fact a bespoke design by some clever person we have been unable to confirm to date, we think however if Eriba did not maufacture this actual model they certainly missed out on an excellent combination of reliable vehicle and luxury camper, we ahve seen however a couple of dismountable units made for the later T5's along the same lines, giving 5/6 fully belted confortable long distance seats and sleeping for probably 4/5 a perfect combination for a family vehicle, i think you would agree.
